A new floor for the Communitea Center in Sri Lanka!
In collaboration with the Peeze Foundation and Hatton Plantations (owner of the tea plantation), the Fair Grounds Foundation built a Communitea Center (community center) for the families on the tea plantations in 2018.
The building is located in a central spot on the tea plantation with a view of the tea factory. The building accommodates various events such as weddings, national holidays, and funeral ceremonies. It connects the community and is therefore of great value to the 600 families residing on the tea plantation. After weeks of preparation, the time has come: The building will get a second floor! The contract for the second floor was signed this summer, and the construction work has commenced. Local contractors and residents are carrying out the construction to stimulate the local economy. If weather permits, the construction is expected to be completed early next year.

The second floor will provide space for training and workshops, including computer technology. As there is currently no such learning center available, this project offers many opportunities for further development. Once again, we could count on a generous contribution from the Peeze Foundation (generated from the sale of Communitea tea), for which we are very grateful.
